Support & Services

At Michael’s House, residents benefit from a comprehensive support system designed to promote accountability, personal growth, and long-term recovery. From on-site management and individualized coaching to structured daily routines and shared living spaces, every aspect of the residence is built to foster a safe, recovery-focused environment.

House Manager

The House Manager lives on-site and ensures a safe, structured environment by overseeing day-to-day operations, conducting house meetings and inspections, and enforcing policies. They are also available to assist with resident intake, orientation, and referrals.

Recovery Coach

Each resident is paired with a Recovery Coach who works one-on-one to set personal goals, provide encouragement, and help with practical needs like job applications, transportation, and resume building. Monthly workshops and weekly support groups at the 1st Mile Recovery Center are also available.

Accommodations

Michael’s House offers shared bedrooms in a home-like setting, along with access to a kitchen, laundry, living space, and designated smoking areas. Bedrooms are assigned at intake and are expected to meet high standards of cleanliness. Residents follow a structured three-stage program with increasing privileges and are required to attend at least five recovery activities each week, participate in 20 hours of self-betterment such as work, education, or volunteering, and take responsibility for household chores and maintaining common areas.

MARR Certified

Michael's Active Recovery is certified by the Maine Association of Recovery Residences (MARR) and meets the Level II Certification Standards of the National Alliance of Recovery Residences. This certification ensures we maintain the highest standards for quality, safety, and ethical operation in supporting individuals on their recovery journey.
